HOCKEY OBSESSION

Mini got skates from his Great Grandpa K for Christmas! And Potsy and I thought that he should have a lesson to get used to them. It's been such a snowy winter that there wasn't that much chance of skating outside but here is one picture from his first trip skating. He was so proud of himself!

Fortunately there is an indoor rink not to far from our house that offers lessons. So into the class Mini went. And he LOVED LOVED LOVED it!!! Here's one of his first lessons (he's the one standing).

And the bonus about the indoor rink is that there is a Zamboni to watch before and after lessons as well as hockey!! He can't wait to get to use the hockey sticks and pucks he's been given but we told him he needed to really learn to skate first! Here he is watching the Zamboni.

Since Potsy doesn't skate and I still love to I took out my old skates as well as an old pair of my moms to try. Unfortunately they were too small but Amazon came to the rescue and a new pair arrived a couple of weeks ago.

Another bonus of the indoor rink is that they have public skating all year round on Saturday afternoons. So last weekend Mini and I went to the rink to hang with the big kids and get some practice in. He's doing so well, I am so proud of him!!!!!! He can even go backwards a little, it's so cute!! The present was obviously a huge hit Grandpa K!!
Gram and Brian brought him to a Manchester Monarchs game so he is just chomping at this bit to play. And with two uncles that are hockey players he has it in his blood so he even wants to keep taking lessons all summer! Thank goodness for the indoor rink!!!

First Seconds of Spring

Despite the snowstorm that we had yesterday there have been some nice days lately that let us know that spring is truly on the way! Last week it was such a nice afternoon that I put aside my assigned chore for the day, bathrooms, to go outside and enjoy the day with the kids!

Princess was obsessed with the smaller of our two tricycles even though she can't sit on the seat and pedal. And she would NOT let go of the pink and yellow golf balls that Mini found stashed away in some boxes in the garage.

And Mini got out every single riding toy, bubbles, chalk, and more... basically everything we have in the garage and tried out all of them! We finished up the afternoon with a visit with our neighbors and a walk around the block! Loving the spring weather and hope it comes to stay soon!!!

All In a Day's Work

So on Wednesday last week Princess suddenly decided to try all kinds of new things. The day started like this:

I run upstairs to get kids clothes. Two seconds later...
Mini says "Mom, Princess is on the stairs"
I say "Mini, did you open the gate for her? I know I closed it."
Mini says "No Mom, I don't know how she got up there"

And I race to the stairs to see Princess about half way up grinning up at me with the gate closed. I run down and grab her and set her down to see what she'll do and she promptly shows me how she got up the stairs.

So now the gate looks like this:

Then at lunch time she climbs up into her booster seat and gets herself settled and grins up at me as I watch in disbelief. Guess she wanted me to know she was hungry!

And finally to round out the day she decides that she needs an afternoon snack and digs into the trash to get a handful of, ugh, coffee grounds which she decisively puts in her mouth, mushes around, grins, and grabs another handful of. Ugh, so gross!!

It's all in a day's work for my little princess but hopefully we have a little break before another day like that, my heart can't take it!
