Local News: Potsymobile Needs Repairs

IMG_8337
OK so it was originally my car but when Mini was born Daddy and I switched cars so I had the bigger safer one. And the poor little Sonata has held up well for 9 years and over 125,000 miles but it's seriously starting to have problems. The keychain power locks don't work so and the windows are really really slow to go up and down. So when Daddy ran back in the other morning to take the truck to a business meeting because there was a problem with the power steering on the Sonata I was pretty sure that was the end of the poor dear.

We called AAA and they came and towed the Sonata to our local mechanic at Millville Gas! But much to my surprise and pleasure we got off pretty cheap this time with a relatively simple repair, phew. I feel like we dodged a bullet there but it's not going to be long before one or both cars bite the dust. Just crossing my fingers that it doesn't happen at the same time!!

Now off to fantasize about what car we can get. I'd love one like this one or this one but realistically we'll end up with ones like this one and this one! But nothing will ever top the Mystery Machine!

Fashion: The New Hypercolor

When I was a kid we wore these shirts called Hypercolor shirts. They were super cool because they changed colors when they got hot. But I haven't seen them for years. Recently we got a package in the mail from Grandpa Gary and Mini got a cool shirt with manatees on it. He thought it was pretty nice but we didn't know that it had a secret.
The secret was that it went from this:

To THIS!!!

As we are driving to school Mini tells me...
"Mom, first you're going to drop me off at school,
then you're going to get me a special treat at Stop and Shop.
That's the deal, ok?"
That was the deal so I did it! :)

As is our tradition on our last morning of vacation we ate all our leftovers for breakfast on Tuesday. Daddy was pretty sore from a sprained finger, pulled hamstring, twisted knee, and more so we got the cars packed and went to Mashpee Commons for cupcakes. Then we headed to Woods Hole to visit the Aquarium which is super cool because they let you go behind the scenes to see everything. Plus they have a BLUE lobster!!! Then we decided to go out on a Ocean Quest kids' discovery cruise where Mini got to help pull up a lobster trap, hold a horseshoe crab, see all kinds of sea life, view teeny tiny jelly fish, and more! When we got done there it was time to head home, what a wonderful and fun vacation!

On Monday Daddy had the tournament finals at 11am so we followed Daddy over there. Mini had a great time playing on the playground right next to right field where Daddy was playing. We missed the end of the game due to nap time but Daddy's team won!!! This means that they have been tournament champions two years in a row!!! Daddy got back from his game just when the kids were waking up and we all hopped in the car for a trip to Craigsville Beach! We ate dinner at our favorite Cape local, Spanky's, where Mini tried steamers for the first time. He was definitely much more enamored with the process of shucking, cleaning, and buttering the steamers, than he was when he finally got to eat one! We finished the day by heading over to Four Seas for ice cream, yummy all around, even a dairy free sorbet for me.

Mini and Daddy went down to breakfast while the girls got ready on Sunday morning. We got to see some of Daddy's baseball game where they won in 7 innings again. Then while Daddy had lunch Mini played on the playground. We went back to have naps and missed all of Daddy's second game but they lost, boo! On the recommendation of Uncle EZ we headed over to Paines Creek Beach and had dinner at Kate's Seafood while we waited for results of the 4pm games. We found out that Daddy's team made the semi-finals so he had an 8pm game. We got to watch some of the first inning before having to leave to go to bed. Daddy's team won their game so that meant a trip to the finals the next day. And during the game Daddy had an AMAZING catch, go Daddy!!!! Unfortunately Princess had two teeth coming in so no sleep for the weary!

Hurricane Earl brought with it a lot of rain but nothing near what they were predicting in regards to wind and damage. Since Daddy's baseball game was delayed because of the predicted weather on Saturday we ate breakfast the Daily Paper, yumm!! And then went to Keyes Memorial Beach for a little jetty walking, rock collecting, and in general running on the beach. We couldn't go swimming because of the rip tides but we had a fun time none the less. Daddy had to get ready to play ball so we all went back to the hotel. The kids took such a long nap that we were still on the way to watch the game when Daddy called to tell us the game was already over, the 7 inning rule!!! We went to the field where Mini jumped in Daddy's car and we headed off to play mini golf. Along the way we checked out bumper boats (maybe next year) and jumped on in-ground trampolines. We played golf at Pirate's Adventure and Mini was getting pretty good by the end. I beat Daddy by one stroke (43-44)! We finished up the day going to dinner at the Olive Garden so Daddy could carb load again!!!

Travel: Cape Cod Baseball 2010 - Friday

Hurricane Earl was set to hit on Friday so we ditched our plans to go to P-town. Instead we hit up the Pancake Man for breakfast. Between the huge bill, our waitress having snot running down her face, and another waitress leaving the bathroom before washing her hands we won't be going back there again. With a mad dash in the rain we got back in the car for a ride to Barnstable Bat. Mini had a great time playing in the puddles and with the owner's 4 yr old visitor from AZ. We took a little drive and ended up saving a turtle. After that we went to the grocery store to stock up in case of power loss and then back to our room for naps (or non-naps in Mini's case). We went for dinner at Not Your Average Joe's which was delicious (I had super yummy tomato-watermelon gazpacho) and the service was excellent! Then back to the hotel to batten down the hatches!!!

Quotable Quote from Mini P:
I picked him up real careful and carried him down to the water.
I put him down and his head peeked out.
Then he walked to the water like this (shows with hands)
Then he swam off real quick.
It was cool!

Daddy had a business trip so on Thursday morning Mini, Princess, and I packed up the car to head to the Cape for Labor Day weekend. We checked right into our hotel and then went swimming. We then went TGI Friday's for an early dinner where Mini was so good that he got to have a cup of dirt for dessert, complete with gummy worms on top. Following dinner we went to Toys R Us for a bit of free fun! Daddy got in late from his trip and came right to the hotel before going out to dinner to carb up for his baseball tournament!

Travel: To Vermont - Saturday the 14th

On Saturday morning we got a little later start than we wanted because our goal on the way home was to drive down Rt. 100 to check out a variety of swimming holes. Because of the late start we only got to stop at the Lareau swimming hole where Princess and I played in the grass while Mini and Daddy went rock jumping.

Another little drive over a mountain brought us to the Quechee Gorge. At the gorge Daddy and Mini went to check out the gorge and then we all had a picnic lunch followed by more cheese samples at the Cabot Annex.

Daddy and I dropped the kids off at Gram's house and took her car into Boston for the Aerosmith concert at Fenway park! What an awesome way to end a vacation!! Gram took Mini and Princess home and got them settled. We got home from the concert to find Gram sitting on the couch looking a little worn out with Mini sleeping on the couch next to her and stubborn Princess still up and wide awake. A little Mommy and Daddy tag team got both of them in bed and we all went to sleep! Bye Bye Vermont! See you again soon!!!!

Travel: To Vermont - Friday the 13th

Another gorgeous day. We started out our day with a little adventure! First was a stop at the Vermont Wildflower farm and then a detour to a yarn shop that we didn't stop at because there were too many old rusty cars in the yard, a little scary. Daddy was on a mission to try Raw Milk so we asked at the Wildflower Farm and got a possible place to try which turned into another possible place to try. And the second place had RAW MILK! (Imagine the angels singing in Daddy's head now!) After the raw milk farm we headed to the Lake Champlain chocolate factory. It's not too often that I really miss being able to eat dairy and soy but the smell in the factory and store was soooo delicious... but I found out that they had several dark chocolate varieties without dairy! (Now imagine the angels singing in MY head!) So the guys got tons of samples and I got a couple of dark chocolate bars for the road!!
IMG_3144
We went to one of the parks in downtown Burlington for a picnic lunch. We combined food from The Red Onion, Ali's Kabob Shop, and Manhattan Pizza for lunch! All came highly recommended by friend's that have lived in Burlington and all lived up to their promise!
IMG_7622
After naps for Mini & Daddy and an extended lobby visit for Princess & Mommy, since Princess was not going to sleep, we went over to North Beach in Burlington for a swim and dinner. Princess of course fell asleep in the car over and so Daddy and Mini went for a dip and played on the playground while I read a book and Princess slept in the car. When Princess woke up we all went swimming. We were getting set up for dinner when we realized it was really buggy and decided to abandon our dinner picnic for dinner in the room.
IMG_7650
We stopped off at Al's French Fries for fries & a coffee shake to go before having a late dinner of miscellaneous leftovers and a Red Onion sandwich. Then since we were on a tight schedule the next day we got most of the stuff packed up and ready to go in the morning!
