Local News: Bottom Dwellers

Princess likes to tip over her bucket of toys and dig around in them to find the goodies in the bottom. Including the binkies I threw in there a while ago. There are a number of different types of binky and she doesn't seem to have a preference one over the other, she just likes to chew on them all. It's really funny because she's never been a binky baby and yet now we often find her moseying around the house with one in her mouth. But I'm not worried because they're just one of the many things she carries like a dog carrying a bone, see this one's even upside down!

Things to Do: Show and Tell
At Mini's school they select kids get to do Show and Tell each class. On Tuesday Mini was selected to bring something on Thursday to share. They send the selected student(s) home with an orange bag to bring their item to share back in!
There were some guidelines as it had to be something related to what they were working on in class. This month was A-D, 0-3, school, fall, or the colors red or orange. It was very interesting to see Mini go through his own mental process of choosing what to bring.
Something Orange
Something Red
Something Orange
Red Fire Hydrant
Fire Hose (he was very upset when I told him they weren't red)
Mater the Tow Truck (another one that didn't meet the criteria)
Lightning McQueen
...
Baby Red the Fire Truck
And that was what he settled on, Baby Red. The only problem was that we didn't know where he had disappeared off too. So we had a mission!!! We searched every toy box and bucket in the house, under furniture, and in the couch. Finally Mini said... "Mommy I think he might be in the car" and low and behold he was in the bottom of the bag of Mini's toys in the car.

Front Page: Cats Come to Potsyville
Copycats that is. Princess is the #1 copycat in our town these days. She especially loves doing anything her big brother is doing. But sometimes he copies her right back. They have been having so much fun going back and forth and then both dissolve into hysterical laughter.

He's hard to capture a picture of, but she is like his little mirror!!

Local News: Walk-a-bout

We love to go on walks in our little neighborhood. It takes a lot longer now that Mini likes to walk instead of riding in the wagon or stroller but I like to think that gives us more time to stop and smell the roses. Yesterday on our walk we, checked out bees, checked the mail, pruned some flowers (thanks Princess), checked out the rocks, Mini pulled his little wagon, stopped to draw on the sidewalk, tried to fly one of the balloons that Mini drew, Mini pulled Princess up the hill, Princess pulled Mini's wagon, stopped again to see if the bees were still there. All in all a very fun and eventful little adventure!

Local News: Like Brother Like Sister Like Mother

Princess' latest trick is to crawl over to one of our bookcases or DVD shelves and pull ALL of the books or DVDs down. She thinks it's great fun. Mini gets frustrated with her and I just laugh. When he was her age he did the same thing. It's too funny to remember his antics through hers. And honestly doesn't it just look like a blast? Maybe one day I'll do it too, just for fun ;)

Local News: Town Common Goings On
Sometimes it's tough living in a small town without a lot of choices but most of the time we love it. The other day we were in the town center to go to the library and I was reminded that though it's small our town can be so cool!
There was a train derailment right behind the library was and there were tons of emergency vehicles and people around. Mini was in his element and would have stayed all day watching if he could.

And then just across from the library on the town common there was a wedding ceremony going on. It was such a gorgeous day for a wedding!!!

Education: Bus Stop
While we haven't made it out to visit our friends at the bus stop very much this year we are having a great time playing bus inside. Mini still loves to play bus and when he was asleep the other day Princess took up the reins and had a grand old time taking the Little People in and out and opening and closing the door! I was on hand if she needed help. It just amazes me how big she's getting!

Things to Do: Birthday Cruise

For Grandma P's 70th Birthday we took her out for brunch on an Odyssey Cruise in Boston Harbor. It was such a great time. The food was delicious and the views were great! Mini got Grandma and Grandpa up dancing and later Daddy dedicated a special song to Grandma and danced with her. We got up on deck and took a few family shots. And most importantly Grandma loved it! Happy 70th!!

Front Page: 10 Months Down
Wow, the time just keeps going by so fast. Princess is 10 months old today!

Her favorite toys are her brother's dinosaurs, especially the velociraptors, and the duck magnet. She also loves her stuffed bunny in a carrot car and anything that has buttons she can push.
She likes to play peek a boo and is really getting a sense of humor! She has the cutest smile (almost impossible to catch on camera) when she thinks she's being funny or cute or trying not to get into trouble where she wrinkles up her nose and does a huge toothy smile, I call it her "I'm so cute smile".
Every once in a while she stands without holding on and can easily bend and pick something up off the floor without falling. And she crawls super fast now and gets where ever she wants!!!
She loves her big brother and gives him a humongous smile every time she sees him. But she drives him crazy turning the tv on and off when he's trying to watch, see above comment on pushing buttons!
She has six teeth now and while she'll suffer through baby food it has to be super thick and she really prefers to feed herself. Her little pincher grasp is getting very efficient. She loves grapes, spinach pancakes, and chicken.
Words are starting to come out of Princess' little mouth more often. She says mama, daddy, zame (for Mini), again, girl, more, up, and boo (for peek a boo) plus I think she says her own special version of duck and dinosaur.
She is getting so big so fast! She is an absolute delight!

Relationships: T-shirt Shoot
Mini and Princess have coordinating Big Brother and Little Sister t-shirts. And I tried soooo hard to get a nice picture of them with their shirts, but nothing came out like I really wanted. Yet, when I went back inside I found a ton that made me laugh and a few really nice ones. So here's a few of the ones I like the best!

Things to Do: The Big E

Not having grown up in Massachusetts myself (other than when I was really little) I had never experienced the wonders of The Big E. Potsy had gone as a kid and loved it. And I had heard about it from other friends, especially Erika ;) For a few years now I've looked up the dates, considered going and then just never made it.
But this year was different! We piled the kids into the car and took off for Springfield! The traffic was horrendous so we parked a little ways away in a spot where the proceeds went to the high school baseball team and walked from there.
We got there just in time to see the parade which at the end of is a bunch of Mardi Gras themed floats that all toss beaded necklaces, we collected the whole rainbow!!! Mini loved all of them and Princess got to try a couple on but we had to take them right off because that girl puts everything in her mouth these days. Then we headed over to one of the food spots and feasted on brats, steak bombs, homemade fries, a giant pickle, and more.
From there we tried to get in to see the circus but it was all full so Daddy and Mini went on the giant slide. Then they went to one of the petting zoos while Princess and I checked out some of the booths. We made a pit stop to have Big E cream puffs and eclairs. While the boys ate them P and I went off to find cool hoodie towels. We ended up taking a flower and alligator home and they even embroidered the kids names on them for free. Then we tried deep friend oreo cookies and picked up some 5 million thread count sheets (hmmm...) before checking out the wood carving booth.
We were going to head out then but decided we couldn't leave without visiting the midway. We walked all the way down before Daddy beat the Guessing Man game on both his age and weight. Mini begging to play a game the whole way so we told him that he could play one and he chose the fishing game. Between the two games we are now the proud owners of two giant stuffed fish, Pinky and Bluey, and a stuffed frog, Froggie.
On the way out the door we got one last snack, deep fried jelly beans and deep fried butter balls, nothing better than fried food from a fair! All in all it was a great experience, we'll be back next year Big E!!
